User Guides: Final testing

OK, nervous? :o)

To start using Flickr2Frame, firstly disconnect the frame from your computer. Allow a few moments for Windows to register the hardware removal, and then reconnect the frame to your computer. You should be presented with something similar to the AutoPlay dialog below.

Note: The good people at Microsoft have disabled some of the AutoPlay functionality in Windows 7 (and soon on Windows Vista via a patch) to prevent missuse. To workaraound this, I have added some new functionality in version 0.1.4, which will create Start Menu and Desktop shortcuts. You will need to launch Flickr2Frame from <drive>:\Flickr2Frame\Flickr2Frame.exe (with <drive> being the drive letter that Windows has assigned to your frame) once before these shortcuts are automatically created.

WARNING: ALL FILES IN THE DIRECTORY SPECIFIED IN THE CONFIGFRAME.EXE APPLICATION WILL BE DELETED. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THEM BACKED UP PRIOR TO RUNNING AN UPDATE.

Select Update your photo frame with Flickr2Frame, which will launch the Flickr2Frame application directly from your frame, and proceed to download photos from Flickr.

If you are not presented with the AutoPlay dialog, this feature may be disabled on your computer. This is not a problem, as you can simply run Flickr2Frame by executing <drive>:\Flickr2Frame\Flickr2Frame.exe (with <drive> being the drive letter that Windows has assigned to your frame).

If you have just completed the step to Test frame compatibility with Flickr2Frame's sample information, then please now return to Flickr API information to continue the setup process.

If you have already followed these steps, and have now just successfully downloaded photos from your own Flickr account on to your frame, you're all done!

Please see the FAQ if you have any problems, which gives advice on how to further customise the behaviour of Flickr2Frame (photo names, etc).
